We are over the moon to be putting on a very special gig with one of our favourite bands IDLES next month. The Bristol post-punk five piece – recently championed by BBC 6 Music & Radio 1- will be playing Exeter Cavern on Tuesday 4th October as part of their UK tour
As the next in our ‘Lemonfest presents’ series, we are taking over the Cavern Club once more for a night of ‘uncompromising rhythmic punk rock’ according to Steve Lamacq’s recent description of the band.
Two of the bands members, Joe Talbot & Adam Devonshire, both met in Exeter whilst at college there, before making the move up to Bristol. Whilst this isn’t quite a homecoming gig, they are certainly covering very familiar territory during their stop over in the South West with us.
You may remember (if you can think that far back) to the first ever Lemonfest, where IDLES headlined the first Locally Grown Tent. They’ve come a very long way since then. Latest singles ‘Well Done’ and the extremely poignant, politically fuelled ‘Divide & Conquer’ have both been playlist by the likes of BBC Radio 6 Music, Radio X and Radio 1’s Huw Stephens.

This summer has seen the band play an array of UK festivals, including a showcase at Brighton’s The Great Escape, where they received much critical acclaim from many corners of the music world. This gig is going to be partcularly unmissable.
